Offering a unique workshop for kids of olim that focuses on the children’s own experience of Aliyah.
As the the new routine begins to settle in, you might start to feel the impact of Aliyah as a major life transition. Children will too, as they encounter many challenges in their new environment. Typically, they are most concerned with fitting in, being liked and having friends. They may also be worried about understanding what is going on, and struggle with the language barriers, behavior codes and cultural differences.
The objective of the workshop is to provide children with the opportunity to explore their feelings and attitudes regarding their move to Israel and to strengthen their coping skills. The group provides a safe and accepting environment that offers support and promotes a sense of belonging.
Issues and topics:
* Assertiveness
* Developing positive self-esteem
* Coping skills
* Identity and belonging
* Cultural clashes (with peers, parents, themselves)
The workshop consists of 6 weekly sessions and is lead by Sylvia Kassoff, M.A in Counseling, who specializes in working with olim chadashim.
