All employees are entitled to vacation days according to law. This is mandatory for all employers in Israel.<\/p>\n

The Annual Vacation law specifically states in paragraph 5 the days that shall not be counted as an employee’s annual vacation days:
1) Holidays<\/strong><\/u> (days that are not work days because of the holiday, but would have been if it weren’t a holiday). Shabbat, for example, is an off-day anyhow so it doesn’t count as a paid holiday. In shift work or places of employment where Shabbat is a workday, obviously this would apply to Shabbat as well, but might not apply to a weekday that was the employee’s off-day in place of the Shabbat.<\/p>\n

The Holidays are:<\/u><\/strong> <\/p>\n

2 days Rosh Hashana
Yom Kippur
1st day of Sukkot
Simchat Torah
1st and 7th days of Pesach
Shavuot
Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israeli Independance Day)<\/p>\n

 Note:<\/strong> Non-Jewish employees can choose whether to receive their holidays or Jewish Holidays, this via a signed declaration to the employer. <\/p>\n

2) Miluim<\/u><\/strong> (active reserve duty in the IDF)<\/p>\n

3) Advance notice<\/strong><\/u> upon termination\/resignation.<\/p>\n

4) Maternity leave<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

5) Sick Day absence<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

6) Bereavement leave <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n
