Common Denominator: 2 Christian Clergy & 1 Rabbi

Three American men: a Baptist Pastor, a Seventh Day Adventist Minister and an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi – what do they have in common?

No, this is not a riddle or joke, there’s story.

During my quest for truth and purpose in life, I ventured through a few of America’s religions (actually the truth is that there were many if you consider the various forms of idol worship that the average American participates in – materialism, musical artists, actors, “must watch” TV shows, etc.) and this is my account of conversations I had with these three particular religious men. Israel: The New Melting Pot

After reflection, this is my post-Tisha B’Av message

Example of Results of NYC Melting Pot

Emigration/Immigration
Back in the late 1800s/early 1900s my family emigrated from Italy to New York City, the then “promised land”. A land they perceived as the place they would make their fortune and provide a better life for their offspring. They were correct in some aspects as their hard work paid off in financial terms with successful restaurants, bars and bakeries.

New York City became a melting pot for many, many cultures in a relatively short period of time. Despite separation into neighborhoods (sometimes referred to as ghettos), eventually many areas became mixed with colors and cultures – some enhancing, and others degrading, the quality and fabric of family life.

My parents, both the youngest in their families, were the first generation born in America and (along with 2 out of 4 other siblings) the first to stray from the religion and traditions of the Old (-fashioned) Country.

I don’t know what went through the minds of my grandparents during these changes because unfortunately they had all left this world by the time I was a year old. But I do suspect that if they had lived to see just how far my generation in the 70s (and my daughter’s in the 90s) strayed from their values, that they may have seriously questioned the sanity of their decision to move to the USA. Rabbi Kahana’s WordPress site & Facebook page

May 30, 2011

NachmanKahana.com received a facelift today. The site was created about 2 years ago using WordPress to promote Rabbi Nachman Kahana’s then new book – With All Your Might, Volumes 1A and 1B.

Today, in honor of the new release of With All Your Might, Volume 2, I created new Jerusalem themed graphics, installed the Thesis theme for WordPress to improve the SEO functionality and added a slideshow gallery with photos taken in Jerusalem this week.

Update: August 5, 2011

I launched Rabbi Nachman Kahana’s Facebook page today with the purpose of expanding the reach of his weekly Dvar Torah.

VIPRE WordPress site

I launched a VIPRE Antivirus affiliate site for a NY client today. The purpose of the site is to educate the public regarding virus threats and offer effective solutions.

For years people have been complaining that the biggest frustration with antivirus programs is bloat and high resource usage. VIPRE Antivirus has been purposely created from scratch to run seamlessly without compromising system performance. Pay attention to your current system performance and then try replacing your existing antivirus with VIPRE – we think you’ll find it’s like having a new and improved system!

I built the site on a server-installed WordPress platform using The Thesis Theme for WordPress for flexibility of design customization and search engine optimization. Utilizing plug-ins and scripts, I was able to provide the client with the features and functionality he desired:

  • Product pages feature a multiple tab layout
  • Embedded Videos
  • Share/Bookmark/Email function & Google +
  • Forms
  • Multiple language options
  • Mobile device readable
  • Print friendly
  • Blog feed and statistics
