CTA Training WordPress site & Newsletters

CTA Training was launched today for Dr. Jim Adams of Cardiovascular Imaging Center Associates, Inc. in San Francisco.

My role in this project began when Dr. Adams needed someone to clean up a WordPress site that wasn’t meeting his needs. I ended up providing him with full Internet consulting services that included moving his site to a different hosting company and setting everything up from installation, configuration and customization of Thesis to design, graphic editing and marketing content writing and editing, as well as MailChimp e-mail marketing, Social Media Marketing and creation of an Amazon.com shop.

Understanding the Education System in Israel

This is in response to those of you who have been asking me via Facebook and e-mail about the education system in Israel. If I’ve missed something, please feel free to ask questions in the comment section below and I’ll attempt to get you answers.

Quality of Education in Israel

Make education fun and worthwhile with everest college phoenix an its many interactive courses.

The quality of education in Israel varies based upon the community’s dedication to education (via tax allocations and programming), individual school’s focus, and parental involvement in the system. Unfortunately, Israeli schools are not ranked well among other countries in the developed world. But that can change, and you can play a role in improving the quality by making Aliyah and getting involved.

A problematic issue you should be aware of is violence and lack of respect among the students from various countries and cultures. If you live in a large North American city, you most likely have already been exposed to this issue. Please be aware of the problem and ask your children about “bullying”. Keeping open communications with your children and encouraging them to discuss their anxiety, fears and experiences with you and their teacher will empower them to play an active role in effecting change. How to Deposit a Check in a Bank Leumi ATM

One of the most humbling (i.e., humiliating) things about making Aliyah has been my inability to conduct “business as usual” due to my poor Hebrew skills. A few weeks ago I needed to deposit a check that someone gave us. When I entered the bank a young employee snatched me out of the teller line (where it would have cost me 5.5 shekels to complete a transaction) and insisted on taking care of my deposit via the ATM – I was thankful (it cost only 1.65 shekels to use the ATM), but she went so quickly through the screens that I was unable to recall the entire process.

On Friday I received a reimbusement check from my landlord for repairs I had paid for and I took it to the bank. I was too early (they open at 8:30) and the outer lobby was already packed with customers so I decided to wait until Sunday. On Sunday when I arrived at 8:30 they were closed. So I attempted to use the ATM, but didn’t know which one to use because they have two different systems. I tried the one I have used in the past to withdraw money, but quickly realized it was the wrong one. The other seemed to be out of order (at least I assumed that’s why the guy who attempted to use it before me was cursing as he left). Continue reading “How to Deposit a Check in a Bank Leumi ATM”

Registering a Freelance Business in Israel

Disclaimer: This is not a comprehensive guide, just my experiences in registering as a business in Israel today – at the request of my friend Shoshana 😀 There are two ways to go about this – the hard way or the CPA way! For more than 6 months (on and off) I have been trying to accomplish this task the hard way, i.e., Internet research, meetings at MATI Centers in Jerusalem and Ra’anana (MATI is The Israel Small and Medium Enterprises Authority), blogs like Gidon Ariel’s How to Succeed as an Atzmai… The bottom line is that my Hebrew skills are not good enough to navigate the system of locating the correct offices (and their business hours) or the correct forms (and completing them).
