So I’m sitting here thinking this morning as the sun breaks over the hills and brings light into our Jerusalem apartment.<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n

What is this <\/font>Social Media<\/font><\/a> craze all about?<\/font> What is Business Networking<\/font> when we, like a person making their way through an apple, get to the core of the issue? The answer is important because love it or hate it (I despise it!), Social Media is here to stay!<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n

.<\/font><\/p>\n

It’s about meeting people. Making contacts. Creating a network. And just like in any business meeting, shaking hands (in this case virtually), making those introductions and getting to know each other just a little bit better. <\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n

.<\/font><\/p>\n

.<\/font><\/p>\n

.<\/font><\/p>\n

The 1981 movie <\/strong><\/font>"Stripes"<\/strong><\/font><\/a> (Amazon’s #8 comedy film of all-time) was a smash-hit at the box-office! Starring <\/strong>Bill Murray<\/strong><\/a>, the late <\/strong>John Candy<\/strong><\/a> and <\/strong>Harold Ramis<\/strong><\/a>, it portrayed a group of misfit US Army recruits. Forced to take matters into their own hands, leaderless when their dreaded drill instructor…<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n

 <\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n

…Sergeant Hulka<\/a>, gets injured, miraculously, they form themselves into a cohesive, crystallized, dynamic fighting unit.<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n

The movie is a comedy and the scene which you are about to see might have you "LOL" (I hate that damn<\/em> expression!). <\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n

.<\/font><\/p>\n

But, I believe, once you get past the laughter, revelry and the quirkiness, the clip’s interaction is what networking is all about. <\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n

.<\/font><\/p>\n

It’s about utilizing venues like Facebook<\/a><\/em>, Twitter<\/a><\/em> and Digg<\/a><\/em>, to name but a few. It’s about taking the time to introduce yourself. Putting all of your personality, strengths, weaknesses and foibles on the table. Saying "Hi, my name is ‘Fill in the blank’."<\/em> And letting one another know exactly what you bring into the equation.<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n

.<\/font><\/p>\n

Can we cooperate? Can we enhance each other by working together. Can we create a personal and\/or Business bond? An alliance?<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n

.<\/font><\/p>\n

This, I truly believe is what Social Media and networking are all about!<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n

. <\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n

The scene in the YouTube<\/a> clip? 1981. America and the Soviet Union, what Ronald Reagan called "The Evil Empire," are locked in the grips of the Cold War. And these zany "Networkers" are about to join the battle! Enjoy:<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n
