One of the many great things about growing up in Eastern Pennsylvania was HersheyPark, located in Hershey, Pennsylvania! It’s an awesome <\/em>amusement park with over 60 rides and attractions,\u00a0nestled on 110 acres of beautiful Keystone State land.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s a wonderful place to spend the day, replete with amusement park, Hershey’s Chocolate World, a Visitor Center which contains shops and restaurants, a zoo and the nearby Hershey’s Chocolate Factory, also open to tours. <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In 1903, Hershey Chocolate Company<\/em> founder, Milton S. Hershey, began surveying the local area for a site suitable for the fulfillment of his dream…a leisure park for company workers. An area in Spring Creek was chosen. Work on the park began soon thereafter. <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

On April 24, 1907, the park opened. The entrance sign proudly proclaimed: \u201cYe who enter here leave dull cares behind.\u201d <\/em><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Several years later, amid great fanfare and wild excitement, the park was opened to the general public. It was an instant-hit!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Today, the park, which attracts 2.4 million visitors\u00a0annually,\u00a0is a far cry<\/em> from anything which the original employees and visitors could possibly have\u00a0imagined in the early 20th Century. Huge, ultra-modern roller-coasters, giant ferris wheels, carousels, a water park, boardwalk, arcades and themed areas as diverse as Rhineland, Tudor Park, Comet Hollow and an old-style\u00a0Mining Town.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Yup, as I mentioned,\u00a0this starry-eyed writer is currently\u00a0hard at work choosing a plot of land for\u00a0his very own theme-park. <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Opening day is scheduled for July 1, 2015. At that time the public will be able to enjoy such excellent attractions as “The Resume Roller-Coaster,” “Grammar-Land,” “Punctuation Village,” “Manuscript Mountain,” BIC<\/em> (a giant pen-shaped, 90-meter\u00a0parachute drop), a Disney-style mono-rail…<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
