PROFILE-PLUS. Elementary my dear Watson!

I’d like to explain to JobShuk members in some detail what the posts on my blog called PROFILE-PLUS are all about.

First, there are many hundreds of members who have their Profiles posted on the site free-of-charge, not for a week, or for a month, but permanently, courtesy of Zvi Landsman. That’s worth its weight in gold, not fool’s gold.

Second, I’m a creative copywriter. What exactly does that mean? Simply this. My job is to create stories, not with boring facts and figures, but with a real twist of creativity. Something quite original, perhaps entertaining, but credible.

To find suitable material, I scan the Profiles searching for snippets of information which, when pieced together could make an interesting story.

Sometimes, I feel like Sherlock Holmes hunting for clues, not for who-dun-its, but for bits and pieces carefully hidden away in the Profiles. On occasions it’s like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Then again, also by reading between the lines of the Profile, a clue may be uncovered which tells something very significant about the member, not obvious at first reading.

That’s why it’s called PROFILE-PLUS. Like building something a little extra on what already exists.

Let’s take a real life example. I opened a JobShuk Profile with the heading ‘Freelancer from Jerusalem’. What I uncovered was a superbly compiled resume written by the freelancer, Helen Kariv.

Complete in every detail with a full listing of her education, professional summary and even the rates she charges for her services.

Not only that, but expertly presented in clear and concise language with easy-to-read type evenly spaced. It clearly demonstrated the clarity of her thinking and the attention to detail.

To my mind there is little doubt that anybody wanting to employ Helen would feel most comfortable about the high standard of her work. A most effective and reliable operator.

It makes you feel comfortable when you know that somebody really understands what they’re doing.

And so, the Sherlock Holmes investigation discovered, that by reading between the lines, Helen Kariv doesn’t need to promote herself in blazing headlights.

Her resume says everything about herself, so clearly and efficiently.

"It’s elementary my dear Watson."
