Jackie’s Paper Crafts

I now have a blog on Blogger.com and my site is:

http://jackieskg.blogspot.com

Come and visit me and see what I am up too.  I shall

try to keep it updated each week.

It took me a very long time to get started as I wasn’t sure

what to start writing about, but then the other day I said

to myself "just do it" and so I did!

As I have written before, I really enjoy crafting and now

I even own a Cuttlebug embossing machine. If you want

to know about it, write to me and I will be more than

willing to tell you about it.  Better still came and take

instruction and at the same time make a beautiful greeting

card or do some scrapbooking.

You can also buy my beautiful cards.

If you are already proficient at making cards, why not

come and join me in Tel Aviv to craft together.

Card Making and Scrapbooking

Well it has been a long time since I last wrote a blog – so here’s number three.

Not a lot has changed but now I am also putting emphasis on scrapbooking and not just cardmaking. On my website you can see what sort of scrapbooking I am doing.  http://good-times.webshots.com/album/564019658CLLFEX

I now have a student who is very keen to do scrapbooking for her foster daughter; she has bought lots of scrapbooking material such as albums and embellishments, some from abroad and some from someone who sells online in Israel.

The student is someone I know from my area and she called me after seeing one of my ads on a website, to ask if I am the Jackie she thinks I am.  She wants to learn the different methods that can be put to use for scrapbooking. She says that she doesn’t have design ideas, but from what I’ve seen, she will have by the end of her course.

Last week I received an order for 20 cards and the person who ordered them has a specific type he likes, so I am having a lot of fun making my own designs using photoshop, or changing the colour of designs I already have.

Yesterday in the middle of folk dancing someone started speaking to me and I thought she had mistaken me for my twin sister, but no, she wanted me to make a card for her for her grandon’s Barmitzvah. Last year I remember I made a card for her husband’s birthday.

So, at the moment I am quite busy.  I also need to make a really special card for my own grandson’s 12 birthday, and hopefully manage to do a couple of scrapbooking pages for him.  I now make all my grandchildren scrapbooking pages and hopefully their parents will look after them (I am referring to the scrapbook pages!) until they grow up and can have an album of their own showing different stages of their childhood.

If any card makers or scrapbookers are out there in the Tel Aviv area, how about getting together to scrap?

LEARN card making methods and enjoy it at the same time!

I thought I would write about my progress in getting word out about my card making.

Last week I tried out something new – and it worked.  I was asked to go along to give a card demonstration to a group of seniors at their weekly meeting.  Now although I am not used to an audience (there were about 20 people) and I am still a little shy, because of my love of what I was  doing I was able to interest the people in my demonstration.  I could see that they were enjoying it.  Of course I was hoping somebody would buy a card or two and even  perhaps come along to my sessions to learn about making cards, using some of the methods that I use.

To my delight I got a great reception and lots of the people said how lovely my cards were – and I sold nine cards!  Apart from that one of the women there said she was interested in learning and would contact me.

So now I can offer groups of people a demonstration of how to make cards, using decoupage and this way maybe find new customers or groups interested in a demonstration.

I have also not lost my love of making jewellery and sometimes use beads on my cards.

Another method I can offer people who have Photoshop or a similar program, is to teach how to use this program for card making.

Last and not least – do you know what scrapbooking is?  If not go to my website to see AND take a look at my cards at the same time!

Making Beautiful Greeting Cards

I just love making cards and I can make them day and night. It is great fun being surrounded by papers, glues, embellishments etc. and putting a card together using all types of methods.

I have never been artistic, so it just shows that it ‘is never too late’ to take up a new hobby and enjoy the ongoing process of learning different methods – and, believe me, there are many.

There  are three methods of card making that suit me, namely 3d decoupage, heat embossing and tea-bag folding and most of my information comes from watching videos on the computer.  I would just love to sit and do embossing with a real person sitting with me!  I now have enough knowledge to pass on to others – and I have enough papers, tools etc. to make cards for a very long time.

My cards are all one of a kind and I think that is what makes them special.

To do 3d embossing you need quite a lot of patience to cut out all the pieces required for each card – but there are ways around this too -buy die-cut pictures!  (I have never seen these in Israel, but they can be bought over the internet).

It is enjoyable teaching others and seeing their enjoyment when ‘their’ handcrafted card is finished.

Hopefully I can meet some other people who enjoy this hobby as much as I do.
